My Essential Apps as a Communications and New Media Student

Over the past few months of online school, I've been using the same few apps on a daily basis. Here are my essential apps as a content creator and media student:

None of these are sponsored.

Notion

Notion is an everyday necessity for everybody. Whether you're a student or a working adult, I recommend using Notion.

The interface was initially intimidating because of the wide range of functions available. But after getting the hang of it, I can't stop using it. I am officially a Notion convert and I've been recommending it to everybody.

I'm a sucker for the level of customisation I can do on this app. I love this application so much that I use it for everything: keeping track of things to do, ideas, journaling, semester notes, my portfolio etc.

PSA: If you're a student, sign up with your student email and you can access their personal pro plan for free

The biggest complaint I have is that the format changes on different devices. Most of the time, I arrange elements on the desktop and it's not the same layout when I view it on my phone.

Canva

Canva makes the task of creating aesthetic Instastories, cover images and slides quick and easy. This is great if you're in a rush because they have templates for you to choose from. Some days I do get lazy to create my own image, so I'll use their icons and elements. You can also choose to create or customise according to your tastes and still ensure that your content stands out from others.

If you're a student, sign up with GitHub through your school email to get the student package and you can access premium Canva for free. (This is not sponsored lol).

InShot

InShot is my favourite video-editing app. I've tried out the free and paid versions of this app, and with the free version alone, you'll have more than enough features needed.

Adobe Illustrator

I love Adobe Illustrator. I purchased the whole Adobe collection for a module in a previous semester, and I ended up exploring a few Adobe applications.

It's a personal goal of mine to use Adobe Illustrator every day to explore and learn different functions (especially since this is expensive even with the student package). I've also been influenced by #EduTok because I love watching graphic designers demonstrate how to use Illustrator. Their videos are really useful because you can refer to them afterwards and usually you can ask them questions in the comments section.

Thanks for reading.
