Climate-Inspired Skincare: An Axis-Y Skincare Review

It's been a hot minute since I last posted a blog post. Today, I'll be reviewing some of Axis-Y's popular products and sharing my absolute must haves from the brand.

About Axis-Y:

Axis-Y is a Korean skincare brand that gained online traction despite being a relatively new brand.

Their products are climate-inspired, which I think is a pretty cool concept. Different climates mean different skin concerns and plays a factor in the product's effectiveness. While their current products are tailored towards humid weathers, they're working on expanding onto more skincare lines for the different climates.

If you've guessed it, yes, the name Axis-Y was inspired by the X and Y-Axis. Axis-Y is like the earth's axis, and all the different climates around the earth are revolving around this axis. Similarly, all climate-inspired products will revolve around Axis-Y.

6+1+1 Formulation

Their products have a 6+1+1 formulation. From what I've noticed among their products, they contain 6 key ingredients and 1 extra special ingredient to target a specific skin concern. The last "+1" refers to the skincare technology that was used.

These products are vegan, cruelty-free and paraben-free. Axis-Y is also committed to the use of natural and harmless ingredients.

Dark Spot Correcting Serum

About: A brightening and moisturising serum. This serum soothes irritated skin and brightens dark spots to give your skin a healthy glow.

The star ingredient of this serum, niacinamide (5%), is targeted to soothe inflamed skin, minimise pores, decrease hyperpigmentation. I was excited to try this as there are a few dark spots on my cheeks I've been meaning to get rid of.

This serum is formulated with the fermentation of natural ingredients, such as Centella Asiatica and Camellia Sinensis Leaf Extract, to boost their anti-oxidant and anti-inflammatory properties. The six extracts used are squalane, papaya, sea buckthorn, Oryza sativa rice, allantoin and calendula.

A light and watery-like texture that quickly absorbs onto the skin. However, while it delivers quick hydration, the hydration seems to disappear as quickly. I'd recommend this for both morning and night use to see its effectiveness.

Cera-Heart My Type Duo Cream

About: A cream that delivers hydration and moisture to skin for a youthful and radiant glow. The two creams are specifically for the "T Zone" and "U Zone".

Wake up to glowy, radiant-looking skin when you use this cream. This duo is the perfect overnight remedy that delivers optimum moisture to your skin. I'd highly recommend it for people with dry skin.

For the T-Zone (blue), it contains notable ingredients like
Heartleaf, Centella Asiatica, Sage. This medley of ingredients provides anti-bacterial properties, reduces sebum production, and boost overall skin moisture.

For the U-Zone (white), some key ingredients are Purslane, Sorghum, Allantoin. The U Zone Cream specially contains their very own Pure Medi Technology, which enhances the production of collagen, reduces collagenase and the appearance of wrinkles.

The texture is the major difference between the two. The T-zone cream is lightweight and hydrating, whereas the U-Cream is creamy, nourishing and moisturising. Personally, I love the T-zone cream a little more because it doesn't leave a sticky and tacky feeling, making it suitable for day and night use.

Mugwort Pore Clarifying Mask Wash-off Pack

About: This promises to clear pores of impurities, gently exfoliate and soothe inflamed or irritated skin. The wash-off pack is loaded with Mugwort (61%), another popular skincare ingredient which is known for its anti-bacterial, anti-fungal and anti-inflammatory properties.

This particular wash-off pack has been the most talked about Axis-Y product.

Its intriguing texture is results from the adzuki bean granules used for exfoliation. Yes, adzuki beans. This is probably the first product I've seen and used that contains red bean. I'm not a fan of eating red beans (except for Red Bean Potong Ice Cream yumz), but I'm down to try it out as a skincare ingredient.

True to its claims, this mask helps to soothe irritated skin, gently remove dead skin cells and revitalise your skin.

From what I've seen, this mask is well-loved in the K-beauty community. With its gentle exfoliation, it instantly reveals softer, radiant-looking skin. This mask is also the perfect product for those facing maskne. Yes, maskne is a skin concern that many of us are facing right now, including me. With this mask, your pores will thank you. However, the only downside to this mask is that I'm not a fan of the herbal scent.

Sunday Morning Refreshing Cleanser Foam

About: Their latest product launch - the Sunday Morning Refreshing Cleansing Foam. This is a morning cleanser with a of pH 5.5, making it gentle and suitable for your daily cleanse. And yes, you can use it on other days as well.

This cleanser contains their own Aquaxyl Technology - a combination of three hydrating agents - which they also refer to as the "anti-dehydration shield". Formulated with birch sap, this cleanser strengthens the skin barrier, balances sebum levels and moisturises the skin.

This stringy, yet creamy texture of this cleanser is intriguing. It's gentle and hydrating on the skin, a safe choice to ensure that the barriers of your skin aren't damaged.

However, this isn't the option for you if you do have dry skin. While I agree it is hydrating, I'd say it's recommended for people with oily/combination skin instead.

Overall

Axis-Y is a great option for those living in humid countries. If you're contemplating on what you should get, my favourites from the lot are the Cera-Heart My Type Duo Cream and Dark Spot Correcting Serum.
