Let's Eat: Nayuki 奈雪の茶

I was craving for strawberry stuff, so I discovered this place through Google because of their Strawberry Cheese Tea. Honestly, I came here to eat their Strawberry bun, which looked really good online. I'm pretty late in trying this place out, but hey, I'm not really a bubble tea person so I don't keep up with the latest bubble tea store launches.

First impression:

I liked the layout of this store, and they do offer seats. The place looked clean and bright, especially since it’s directly facing the outside of Vivo. This shop is located right at the entrance of Vivocity.

They are selling a few types of bread that are pretty pricey. However, the price seems to be justified by the size and style of the buns. They looked quite filling because they were big, and for some reason, their bread reminds me of Duke Bakery. I bought the Strawberry Blush Mystique, and the damage to my wallet was $6.80. It was bigger than I had expected. They have a bread service bar, where you can get it cut up, whether you're dining in or doing take-out.

Two other buns caught my attention because they looked adorable. I didn't get those because 1) that would be a sugar overload, 2) the bear-shaped bread had raisins ew.

I would have gotten the Supreme Strawberry Cheese Tea, but I am not a fan of cheese, so I didn’t want to waste my money on that. Plus, it’s $8.30. I ended up getting the Supreme Passionfruit drink which was $5.90.

Thoughts:

I ended up liking the drink more than the bread even though I came here specifically for the bread lol.

The Strawberry bun looks pretty, and it captured the attention of customers who walked by me.

But, I didn't like the bread because of the cream. There was a peculiar aftertaste, which was both nutty and bitter. Without the strawberry, the bizarre taste stood out to me. I was actually expecting the cream to be sweet and the perfect accompaniment to the strawberries, just like Breadtalk's limited edition strawberry cream bun during CNY, which I thoroughly enjoyed. However, I was met with disappointment here.

The bread alone and the strawberries were excellent, but the cream ruined it for me. The bread was fluffy and the chocolate drizzle added an extra crunchy texture. I just wished there were more strawberries in this because it helped me cancel out the weird aftertaste from the cream.

The Supreme Passionfruit was not bad, and I enjoyed drinking the bits of passionfruit. The drink was sour and refreshing, but I'm not the type of person that would go crazy for drinks. If I were to be totally honest, I reached out for the drink frequently to wash down the cream's aftertaste.

I spent roughly a total of $13. I still don't get why people would spend over $2 on drinks, but you do you. I'm just not a bubble tea kind of person.

Thanks for reading :-)
