K-Beauty Battle #6 : Etude House Matte Chic vs. Shine Chic Lip Lacquer Review
I recently bought the Etude House Matte Chic Lip Lacquer and Shine Chic Lip Lacquer. I've been wanting the matte chic lip lacquer since they were released, but I didn't get my hands on them until now. I've managed to try these out, so here are my thoughts on them:
When I bought the Shine Chic Lip Lacquer, it was still pretty new in Singapore and I actually got a little annoyed. I went to three outlets. In the first outlet, they were only selling it as gift packs, together with the Monster Cleansing Oil and only a few shades of the range were available. The worst part was that there were no testers available. In the second outlet, they didn't have it yet. In the third outlet, they had the whole range, but they didn't have testers. I kind of gave up looking for the testers, so I just bought what I'd think I like and I liked the colour of the box for the shade I got. The shade I got was PP501 Lavender Breeze.

Etude House claims:
Matte Chic Lip Lacquer:
It claims to be a long lasting lip lacquer that keeps the lips and less smudged as rich color pigment settles quickly upon application.

Shine Chic Lip Lacquer:
On the packaging, it claims that it is a glossy lip lacquer in extra shine texture with vivid color. It claims to be long lasting and does not smudge.

Application:
The Matte Chic Lip Lacquer applies better and more smoothly than the Shine Chic Lip Lacquer. When I swatched these, I noticed that the Shine Chic Lip Lacquer had a patchy application. The applicators for both lip products are different, the matte chic ones have a doe foot applicator and the shine chic lip lacquer has a flat wand. I feel that it is faster and easier to apply the matte chic lip lacquer. But both are pigmented and there's no denying that

Durability:
Both the Matte Chic Lip Lacquer and Shine Chic Lip Lacquer definitely pass being transfer proof and smudge proof. They stay on whenever I drink water and they don't transfer onto the glass. I was actually pretty shook when I used the shine chic lip lacquer because I thought that it would.
But, both do not last through meals at all. These do not last when it comes to greasy meals. They tend to start wearing off once I start eating which is pretty sad. However, they do leave a stain, especially the matte ones.
Removal:
The shine chic lip lacquer can be removed using a water-based cleanser. But for the matte chic lip lacquer, these definitely do not budge when I use micellar water. I usually need to use an oil cleanser and I've been using the Heimish All Clean Balm to remove the matte ones.
Design:
I love the detail that was put into the designs. The Shine Chic Lip Lacquer had a box and lipstick bottle has a shiny finish. The Matte Chic Lip Lacquer also has a matte finish on both the box and bottle. Yea, these are tiny details, but I like it.
Overall:
I preferred the matte chic lip lacquer to the shine chic lip lacquer. Mainly because I prefer matte lipsticks, but I also think it's better if you want a longer lasting lipstick. These are all $19.90 and I feel that the matte chic lip lacquer is more worth it. The matte chic lip lacquer weighs 4g, while the shine chic lip lacquer is 3.2g. Why is there a 0.8g difference? I honestly have no clue.
As I've said, the matte ones definitely felt drying on me, especially since I have really dry lips. Hence, you may choose to apply some lip balm before.
Thanks for reading and I hope this was useful.
