Secret Key Starting Treatment Essence Review
In November, I bought two treatment essences. One was from Secret Key and the other was from Missha. Compared to a lot of treatment essences, the Secret Key version is cheaper. While I've been wanting to try the treatment essence from Missha, I decided to use the Secret Key version first.
It claims to contain over 90% of Galactomyces Ferment Filtrate ,which is suppose to improve wrinkles and brighten the skin, while making it smooth and radiant. GaIactomyces yeast contains carbohydrates, vitamins and protein to keep the skin healthy and resilient from the ample nourishment. It also contains other extracts, which are Centella, Chamomile, Green Tea, Witch Hazel, Japanese Knotweed, Portulaca and Sable Tree Extract.
Secret Key also claims that it has the "7 Free System" where it does not contain harmful ingredients like parabens, alcohol, mineral oil etc. It is suitable for sensitive skin as it is rather mild and gentle. On the CosDNA website, the ingredients used are relatively safe and there are only 2 ingredients that may trigger acne.
I'm pretty surprised that I did not react to this product, because I noticed that it contains ginseng. I've tried out other products that contain ginseng and my skin reacted very badly to that ingredient. Normally, my skin would start feeling a burning sensation, and there was once where my face started to swell. Surprisingly, my skin has not been agitated by this product although I've used it for several weeks. Perhaps, it has a relatively low percentage of ginseng.
The product is colourless and has a watery consistency and also, does not have any scent to it. It is lightweight when applied but I feel like it leaves a slight tackiness feeling on my skin after application, but my skin fully absorbs it after awhile. It is quite hydrating, so plus points for that.
I've used this product for about a month and I've seen gradual improvements in my skin. My skin has definitely become a lot brighter and smoother.
I quite like how this essence has worked out for me, but I'm also keen in trying out the Missha First Treatment Essence next considering that it is pricier than the Secret Key Essence.
The product comes in a frosted glass with a stopper inside and it's rather heavy. But, I do feel it would not break easily, but I haven't tried to drop it lol. I wouldn't say that it's safe for travelling so you could definitely transfer this over to a smaller bottle if you're planning to bring this overseas. It is a 155ml bottle and normally I usually use about 3 drops for every usage. I would normally apply the essence after applying my toners, but I would pat the product onto my face rather than using a cotton pad to apply.
