My Experience With Colorpop.com (To Singapore)

I was honestly so excited for my colorpop items to arrive but my experience with colorpop has been very disappointing. Colorpop is a very well-known brand that provides affordable products and I placed relatively high hopes for this after seeing it on so many social media platforms.

My order was placed on Cyber Monday, which was 27 November this year and it arrived in my mailbox at 11.09 pm on 21 December. This means that it took roughly less than a month to arrive at my house.

Although the order was placed on 27 November, the processing took really long to make the shipping label. The shipping label was only made on 2nd December, where it would be sent to USPS next. It arrived in Singapore on December 14, so it took a week to reach my house.

My sister and I ordered 10 items together which cost about SGD$90+ in total. For orders above USD$50, there is free global shipping, but below that it would cost roughly USD$10 for international shipping.

We ordered 3 eyeshadow palettes, 3 lippie stix, 1 ultra matte lip,  1 highlighter, 1 Creme Gel Brow and lastly, 1 angled brush. The items were packaged together with three pieces of foam sheets and it came in a basic white box. The box was actually small enough to fit in a mailbox and at first, my sister panicked when the tracking system said that it has been delivered because we were expecting someone to deliver it to our doorstep.

FIRST COMPLAINT:

Wrong item delivered

Like I mentioned,  my sister ordered the Creme Gel Brow in the shade Dope Taupe. In the box, this sheet of paper was included and it was a list of the products we had ordered. The very first item states " Brow Color- Dope Taupe".

Okay, so Colorpop has 4 types of brow products available. What my sister ordered was the Creme Brow Gel, which is the product on the very right.

She even ordered the angled brush for this, because before she ordered, she didn't own any makeup brushes.

While she was expecting to receive that, Colorpop had actually placed the wrong item and instead what she got was the Precision Brow Pencil. The precision brow pencil was USD$5 while the Creme Brow Gel was USD$6. Although the price difference was just USD$1, which is SGD1.34, if my sister had wanted an eyebrow pencil, she could have just bought from Innisfree because that would have still been cheaper than buying from colorpop.

First thing I noticed was that the precision brow pencil was also in the shade Dope Taupe. So if they had made an error, it was most likely because the labeling was so vague and because the shades are the same.  So maybe, instead of putting "Brow Color- Dope Taupe" in the list, they should have labeled it as " Brow Color Gel - Dope Taupe". I mean, it's just 3 additional letters. It's the small things that can help the people who are obviously confused.

SECOND PROBLEM:

Poorly Conditioned Products and Packaging

Apart from receiving the wrong item, the packaging of the box was damaged. What a way to rub salt into our wounds colorpop.

Also, remember how I said my sister had ordered an angled brush for the Creme Brow Gel. Well, I didn't know that angled brushes today came in several angles.

THIRD PROBLEM:

Broken Highlighter

I was extremely disappointed by this highlighter because I was most excited for this. I bought the Super Shock Highlighter in the shade Flexitarian, which is actually one of the best sellers. It costs USD$8 and it is a buildable champagne shade creme powder highlighter. Although it is USD$8, during the cyber monday sale, this actually cost USD$5.60. On the website, it shows this:

But instead, I was greeted by was this horrible mess:

The texture was really weird because it sort of looked like molten lava, maybe because it was a creme powder highlighter. The entire thing was totally cracked just like how my heart had cracked after seeing this.

Okay, It's easy to fix broken makeup products by adding some rubbing alcohol. But my question is, was there a need for me to clean up this mess in the first place?

after using rubbing alcohol to fix it

Well, after fixing up the highlighter with the rubbing alcohol, the highlighter itself is relatively quite pigmented and it was a sort of silver shade. I just wished that it had arrived in a better condition.

The remaining products, which are the eyeshadow palettes and the lip products were alright. And by alright, I mean that nothing was broken.

I bought the Karrueche X Colorpop Fem Rosa SHE pressed powder palette. It comes with 12 shades which are very warm and rosy with the pinkish and brown earthy shades . The shades range from metallic, to matte and satin. The size of the palette is quite compact and it would be easy to bring the palette around. This palette cost about USD$12.80 during the cyber monday sale.

The matte shades were more pigmented than the shimmery ones and this was the same for the "You had me at Hello" palette. The colors are quite pretty. Compared to most korean eyeshadows, they are definitely more pigmented.

Overall, I would say my first experience with Colorpop was disastrous. I was highly disappointed by the shabby condition of the products and the fact that there was a wrong product. The shipping took close to a month to arrive and finally seeing everything makes me doubt that the time taken for it to arrive was worth it at all.

As for the wrong product, I doubt that Colorpop would exchange it after reading other reviews online. My sister did check and Colorpop does state that it does not do returns, refunds or exchanges due to the low-cost nature of its products.

Before I actually received the products, I was actually quite apprehensive. I was worried about lost mail because of the reviews I read. Although Colorpop has received quite a number of good reviews on the quality of their products, there were many complaints about the service that Colorpop provides.

Would I purchase from Colorpop again? Highly unlikely. Yes, their products may be affordable for the quantity that we purchased, but we could have spent the SGD$90 on better quality brands if we had known the condition of the products were going to be so shabby. If I wanted to repurchase again, most likely it would be for the eyeshadow palettes or the lip products, which are so highly raved about. I'm not saying that the products are terrible, but it would be better if the items delivered had arrived in a better condition.
