Laneige Water Sleeping Mask Review

The Laneige Sleeping Mask is a highly raved sleeping mask, especially in the K-beauty scene. Among Laneige products, this sleeping mask is often praised and claimed as holy grail skincare item.

From the Laniege website, they claim that it is an overnight mask that moisturizes and revitalises your skin, as if you had 8 hours of sleep. Obviously, something we need in the busy life of living in Singapore. It is a gel-like sleeping mask that also serves to improve and restore your skin's hydration.

Each product is 70ml, which it comes in a beautiful and simply designed blue frosted glass container. There's a spatula provided, which is great for hygiene when using the product. Personally, I love the design because it's quite sleek and simple. But, it is not very travel friendly since it is quite bulky.

My first impression when I first started using this mask about 2 months ago? I didn't like the smell. It wasn't a horrible stench, it was just a bit overpowering. According to the Laniege website, the scent is from the aromatic SLEEPSCENT™, which helps you to relax during sleep. Laneige recommends that inhaling the scent for 3 seconds. Let's be honest - I actually laughed at this. The first thought that came to mind was, "who would just sit down and inhale this?".

The smell disappears after application, and the product fully absorbs into my skin quickly. However, the problem about fragrances is that people with really sensitive skin may not work well with this product. Of course, I've also seen people who claim that this product makes them break out even though it is a really popular sleeping mask.

Based on the CosDNA website, the level of safe ingredients used does vary. It does contain alcohol and fragrance.

I've been using this mask for roughly a month and there is still quite a lot of product left. Now, a disclaimer is that, there are 1-2 days that I'm very tired or lazy to put on a mask. On those days I usually skip putting a sleeping mask on after I've washed my face. But I do use this for at least 5 days of the week.

I have to agree that this product is moisturizing.  It has a really nice refreshing feeling when applied. It isn't sticky, and it feels quite hydrating. Once it gets absorbed into the skin, dayumm. My skin feels so smooth.

When I apply it on my face, I usually scoop out and apply it to four points on my face, like the forehead, cheeks and chin, and I'll massage it and finally pat it in. Initially, I expected night masks to be quite heavy and thicker in consistency, since it's doing a lot of repair on the skin overnight. But this sleeping mask is comparatively lightweight to other sleeping masks I've used. Moreover, it does not leave an oily feeling on my skin the next morning.

I haven't had any irritation on the skin since I've started using it. Laneige does promote it as non-comedogenic and sensitivity tested. I've read customer reviews and a lot of them (in fact, almost all) do state that this product is excellent, as it gives you soft, supple and hydrated skin after using it. But, there are several people who also argue that the mask has caused them to break out.

As for me, yes, I would recommend this product because it does do what it promotes. While I may not necessarily like the scent, scents are often subjective and you may end up liking it. But if you don't, the smell does disappear after awhile after application.

This mask would be a great christmas gift for someone who's really into Korean Beauty or someone who's looking for a good moisturizer.

That's all for today!
Thanks for reading and until the next post:-)
