University Essentials by the Social Work Student
Today's student is featuring a social work student, who also has a minor in psychology.
Background Information:
She's going on to year 4, which she finds exciting but also a little uncertain. She doesn't stay in hall, and it takes her roughly an hour to reach school. Just like the rest that I’ve interviewed, she's not in any CCA. Her school only offers competitive sports, which she's not a fan of.
Fun fact:
She's a BTS fan. I watched her give a tutorial on the BTS lightstick with her sister during our CG Zoom session.
What's it like studying Social Work:
"There's a lot of learning on how to communicate with people, like active listening and body language. We learn about cultures and communities, as well as how to work with small groups".
There are individual assignments and exams, but it’s highly likely that there will be group projects in every module. So far, she finds social work students easy to work with.
Her school doesn't have lectures or tutorials. Instead, they have seminars. Usually her schedule runs from 8.30 am to 11.30 am or 7 pm to 10 pm. Depending on the electives, they get to choose what they want to focus on. She chose the Criminal Justice System and Rehabilitation (which I find really cool).
Study essentials:
Ipad:
She's on #teamiPad for her notes. And yes, she bought herself a keyboard and apple pen. It's easier to annotate, especially since the notes her school gives are in PowerPoint slides.
OneNote:
Another OneNote user.
"It's so good. It's easy to organise"
Post-it pads and Google Calendar
She writes down her tasks for the day and jots down the time spent on one task.
Skincare Routine + Essentials:
She has sensitive to normal skin. Her skincare routine is usually the same for both morning and night. Her nighttime routine might differ sometimes where she'll either use lesser products or more for specific products, which depends on her skin that day.
She starts off with cleansing her face. At the moment, she's using the Innisfree Green Tea Foam Cleanser and the Garnier Micellar Cleansing Water (to remove makeup). Next, she uses her homemade toner, which contains mineral water, Epsom salt and Himalayan salt. After applying toner, she uses a serum, a moisturiser and lastly, sunscreen.
Essentials:
Biore Sunscreens
She uses two Biore Sunscreens: the Biore UV Face Milk and Biore UV CC Milk. She opts for the face milk when she wants a lightweight sunscreen. The only downside to it is the strong alcoholic scent.
For days that she needs more coverage, she'll use the UV CC Milk since it is a tinted sunblock.
Skintelligence Skin Perfecting Complex Serum
She enjoys using this serum because it is gentle and non-irritating: an absolute need for her sensitive skin. This contains very natural ingredients. She finds it moisturising, which she appreciates because that's what she looks out for in the products that she uses.
Innisfree Green Tea Seed Cream
This cream spreads easily, allowing her more time to massage her face. She adores this cream, and includes it for both her morning and night routine.
Innisfree Bija Cica Balm
To tackle breakouts, she uses the Innisfree Bija Cica Balm. This is effective for drying out pimples which is a need for the rest of us who break out from school stuff.
Makeup Routine + Essentials
Her go-to makeup routine consists of cushion foundation, eyebrows, eyeshadow and lips. When she has the motivation and energy (essentially, when she's not lazy), she'll apply some eyeliner. If you're wondering why she uses quite a number of Focallure products, it's because she bought a set for SGD$20 (what a steal omg).
Eyebrows:
Innisfree Dark Brown Auto Eyebrow or Focallure Eyebrow Pencil
She ends up using whichever she grabs onto first. Both are easy to draw with, but for the Focallure eyebrow pencil, she has to remember to use with a light hand. Both stay on pretty well.
Innisfree Cushion Foundation (Pink Beige)
"oh.. it's expired."
She claims that it is lightweight where it feels as though she didn't apply anything. She uses this only on areas that need it, such as the eyes, nose and chin. It is easy to control and blend. It's not cakey and provides good coverage.
Eyeshadow:
She either opts for the single Etude House eyeshadows or the Focallure Pro-Matte & Electric Pro Eyeshadow Palette.
For the single eyeshadows, she owns the shades BK802 and BR407, which are both brown. For days that she feels like playing around with colours, she'll opt for the Focallure palette. The palette has a mix of shimmers and mattes.
Lips
For lips, she'll use either the YSL Volupte Sheer Candy or the L'Oreal 80 Super Matte Lipstick.
The YSL Volupte Sheer Candy acts as a tinted lip balm. She'll double this up as both a lip shade and blush because it is pigmented. The packaging is absolutely stunning.
For a long-lasting lipstick, she uses the L'oreal 80 Superstay Matte lipstick. Her sister has also recommended this to me because it really stays on. She only applies a bit because the colours are a little too strong for her.
That's it for her essentials.
