K-Beauty Battle #10 :Corsx Pure Fit Centella Cream vs Cosrx Centella Blemish Cream

It's been ages since my last K-beauty battle and today, I'm back with an exciting battle.

Today's contenders are two of Cosrx's Centella products, one of which I've claimed as my ultimate Centella product for years.

About Cosrx

If you're new to Korean skincare, Cosrx is probably one of the first brands that you'll get introduced to. As a well-acclaimed Korean skincare brand, they target skincare concerns through various product collections. Many of their products have achieved cult-favourite status because they are so well-loved by the Korean beauty community.

About Centella Asiatica

Centella Asiatica, also known as Cica, is popular for its healing properties. This ingredient is popular among sensitive and acne-prone skin as it helps to reduce inflammation. Likewise, I often opt for products with Centella when my skin is red and irritated.

The recent Coxrx launch, the Pure Fit Cica Collection, is an improved version of their original Cica collection. But the product that really caught my attention is the release of a new Cica cream. I am an ardent fan of the original Centella Blemish cream. Not only is it a major skinsaver for many occasions, it is also the reason why I fell in love with Centella Asiatica as a skincare ingredient.

So if you're like me, you've probably wondered about what makes these two products different from each other. Or maybe, you're wondering which one you should get. Let's dive right into the review and answer those questions.

Disclaimer: I have combination skin. I break out from eating junk, sleeping late and stress.

Comparisons:

Texture + Application

The biggest distinction between the two is their texture.

Unlike its name, the texture of the Pure Fit Centella Cream is remotely similar to a cream. I'd say that this is more of a gel, considering that it is translucent and lightweight. When applied, it's refreshing on the skin and absorbs nicely.

The Centella Blemish Cream, however, is heavier and oilier. This why I use this for night treatments only. It's difficult to blend and I prefer leaving it as small dots on top of the blemishes that I'm trying to target. If blended, this leaves a white cast on the skin and can get tacky.

Verdict: I'd recommend using the Pure Fit Centella Cream for daytime use and the Original Centella Blemish Cream for night time treatment.

Packaging

The Pure Fit Cica Cream wins hands down in terms of packaging.

My biggest complaint about the original Centella Blemish Cream is its packaging. It comes as a small tub with an additional lid. Unless you have your own scoop, you have to dip your finger in to get the product which can be really unhygienic. Not only that, it gets messy with the lid.

In contrast, the Pure Fit Cica Cream comes in a squeeze tube, making each use easy and more hygienic.

Effectiveness:

When it comes to soothing the skin and fading acne scars, the original blemish cream has impressively proven its effectiveness to me numerous times. I fell in love with it after my first use because this worked so well in reducing the appearance of my acne scars. The Cosrx Blemish Cream has the additional benefit of reducing acne.

The Pure Fit cream doesn't claim to fade scars, but it works well in soothing the skin. Unlike the Cosrx Blemish Cream, the Pure Fit Cream also helps to hydrate the skin.

But let's dive in a bit deeper. In terms of ingredients, the Pure Fit Cica Cream is better for people with sensitive skin. This cream has completely EWG safe. The Blemish Cream, on the other hand, contains Tea Tree Oil which can irritate the skin.

Verdict: If you're looking for a cream that soothes and helps with acne scars, the Centella Blemish Cream is my choice.

Price

For my Singaporean readers, the Cosrx Centella Blemish Cream is available at Watsons stores and retails for SGD$30.90. It's definitely quite pricey, but you can get this cream for cheaper through Shopee.

Overall

Both products have their own unique purpose. If you're wondering which one to get, my question for you is: what skin concerns are you targeting?

The Blemish Cream is good for reducing acne and acne scars efficiently. The Pure Fit Cica Cream is great for hydrating and soothing the skin. It can be used as both a day and night moisturiser.

Thanks for reading and I hope this was useful.
