How to Calm Irritated Skin: Product Recommendations To Soothe Your Skin
Recently, I've been wearing makeup more often and my skin is definitely not handling it well. My forehead is especially irritated because I did my brows recently and a whole bunch of small bumps have appeared on my forehead. This made me switch to more soothing products that will help with redness and inflammation. Thus, I decided to make a list of products that are soothing to my skin.
I definitely recommend one of my favourite skincare lines, which is the Etude House Soon Jung series. This series is formulated especially for sensitive skin. I know I mention about the Soon Jung Series on Instagram, but I definitely recommend this series if you're new to Etude House Skincare products. It's definitely more affordable than a lot of western brands and I love that the products are non-damaging to my skin.
For soothing effects during the day, I would recommend using the Etude House Soon Jung Toner and Moist Relief All-In-One Gel.
Etude House Soon Jung pH 5.5 Relief Toner
Etude House Moist Relief All-In-One Gel
This is really one of my favourite gels this year. It is refreshing and feels really cool on the skin. It is definitely a moisturizing gel and it applies really well. I like to use it as a quick fix on my irritated skin.
It is not oily nor sticky, so I personally feel that this would be suitable for use during the day. It is a colourless gel, so you do not have to worry about having any white cast.
This gel is SGD$18 and I think that it is reasonably priced. I usually just squeeze out the size of a 10 cent coin, which is enough for me to spread around my whole face. It's called an all-in-one gel because it supposedly combines the function of a toner, emulsion and essence.
Etude House 5 Pathensoside Cica Sleeping Pack
For a nighttime skincare routine, I use the Etude House Sleeping Pack.
It claims to soothe sensitive skin and strengthen the skin's moisture barriers during the night. I bought this is in late October and I feel that it works well with my skin. It is quite a thick gel, but after application, it doesn't feel heavy at all and I like that it doesn't clog my pores. I would use this in the last step of my night routine.
It contains 5% Pathensoside and has a low pH level, just like the toner.
Apart from the Etude House Soon Jung Series, I have a few other recommendations.
iUNIK Centella Calming Gel Cream
I also like to use the iUNIK Centella Calming Gel Cream. This gel-cream contains 70% of Centella Asiatica Leaf Water and 10% Tea Tree Leaf Water. This can definitely be used during the day or night. Just like the Soon Jung Moist Relief Gel, it is a colourless Gel. Centella has anti-inflammatory properties, which is why I really like using it to soothe my skin. Moreover, it is great in reducing scarring and also has effective anti-aging properties.
Missha Time Revolution First Treatment Essence
For essences, I would recommend the Missha FTE. I like this essence because it's hydrating and refreshing. It has a watery consistency, so I prefer using this to essences that are oily and thicker.
For soothing effects during the day, I would recommend using the Etude House Soon Jung Toner and Moist Relief All-In-One Gel.
Etude House Soon Jung pH 5.5 Relief Toner
The Soon Jung Toner has been one of my favourite go-to toners. It is a weakly acidic toner, that is both gentle and hydrating on the skin.
This toner is 97% formulated with natural ingredients. It contains ingredients like Panthenol and Madecassosioside that will help to hydrate and repair any damages to the skin. Madecassoside is a derivative of Centella Asiatica, which will definitely reduce redness and inflammation. It also does not contain any fragrance.
I would definitely recommend this toner if you intend to do the 7-layer method.
For the 7-skin method, I tend to do it a little differently. I will usually use a cotton pad for the first layer, but afterwards, I would apply it directly onto my face after pouring enough product onto my hands.

Apart from all these, I find that washing my face with cold water is way better. Lukewarm water is also fine, but cold water definitely feels more refreshing. I would definitely use these products both in the day and night because it works faster. Also, these products can be used to calm your skin after sun damage.
I hope this was useful.
Thanks for reading and till the next post.
