Favourite Munchies of 2018 | Let's Eat
Yes, I've dedicated an entire blog post to my favourite food of the year. No, I am not a food expert of any sort. I just thought I'd share what I really liked eating this year. Some of them were food I found this year while some were those I already ate before but I grew a deeper appreciation for them this year.
1. Day Plus Bread
This year I've eaten a lot of bread if you've seen my Instagram account.I'm following quite a number of food accounts and among the student food accounts, I realized a few of them kept posting Day Plus bread. Because I kept seeing them, I was tempted to buy these buns and so I did.
My favourite flavours out of those that I've tried so far are the Double Chocolate and Green Tea. I'd be shooked if they decide to make a chocolate green tea one. Anyways, I bought a bunch of these because they were having a $1 offer. I definitely recommend heating these up because warm bread is a lot better.
2. Happy Jackson "Sweet Enough Already"
I found this candy in Cold Storage after school one day and I was like "Where have you been all my life?". I was looking for the Natural Confectionary "Unbearables" but I realized they stopped selling that around here (which I'm really sad about).
This caught my eyes and it's relatively cheaper than a packet of Natural Confectionary. It's $4.50 and yes, it's not the cheapest but I really like this candy.
3. Nakhon Pad Thai and Pandan Chicken
The first pad thai I ever ate in my life was from my school, which I still miss, but it was not really like an authentic pad thai. But after I ate Nakhon's pad thai, I realized what I've been missing in my life.
I remember I brought some leftover pad thai and pandan chicken to my workplace one day. It was a really tough morning that day and the thing that really comforted me was the pad thai and pandan chicken. So now, Nakhon's pad thai and pandan chicken has a special place in my heart.
4. Boom Chicka Pop
I don't like popcorn. But hands down, these were some of the best popcorn I've ever eaten. Honestly, when I saw these at the supermarket this year, I was super excited. I always saw them on Alisha Marie's vlogs and I always wanted to try them out. So when I saw that they were finally selling these here, I was ecstatic.
They were only selling two flavours here, which was the "Sweet and Salty Kettle Corn" and the "Salted Caramel Popcorn". The Salted Caramel one was meh but the Sweet& Salty one really hits the spot. Their ingredient list is also not bad and for the Sweet and Salty popcorn, it was 70 calories per cup.
But, I don't know if they are still selling it here anymore. I don't really see it in stores anymore (sigh). I really hope they continue to sell it here though, especially the Sweet and Salty Popcorn.
5. Harvest Snaps Pea Chips and Calbee Snow Pea Chips
It's been a really long time since I ate pea chip and this year I suddenly felt like buying them. I found these in the Supermarket and I got hooked on these.
They are both under Calbee, but the Harvest Pea Chips are healthier than the Snow Pea Chips. It is slightly more expensive and at first, I was curious if there was really any difference, but I realized the Harvest Pea Chips were less oily than the Calbee snow chips. It also claims that the harvest pea chips are baked and not fried.
I always buy the lightly salted flavour. But they are also selling Wasabi and Chili flavoured pea chips.

7. Shio Pan from Johan Bakery
This shio pan is pure happiness with every bite. It's always so buttery and just the right amount of saltiness. I also really love the texture. The outside is crispy and the inside is really soft, slightly chewy. I wish they would open more Johan outlets here.
8. Veggie Crunch Burger from McDonalds
I can’t believe I almost forgot to include this. Last year, I ate Macs a lot, but I stopped after I went on a diet. Then this year, which I started eating Macs again. My favourite burger to get will always be the Veggie Crunch Burger.
I know people who don’t like eating vegetables would probably stay away from this burger. But, it’s really very good. The patty is always crunchy and I love the sweet and spicy flavours from the sweet chilli sauce. On a side note, I'm not sure if the standards are the same in different outlets. My sister said she tried it in another a Mcdonalds from another area and it wasn't crunchy. But so far, I've tried it in 3 branches and I love it every time. The cucumber adds this refreshing taste to the burger. I also love pouring some curry sauce onto the burger.
I love this burger and I really hope that McDonald's never removes this. It is the only burger I'm willing to eat over and over again, and yet I don't get sick of the taste. PLEASE @McDonaldsSg, let it stay in the menu forever.

6. BreadTalk
As I've said, I ate a lot of bread this year. Once (sometimes twice) a week after school, I will visit Bread Talk before I go home. I roughly spend around $7-$14 each time.
My favourite purchases are the Double Up, Curry Naan, Strawberry Steamed Cake, Coffee Bun and Ham & Cheese Bun. I don't really try out other bread unless it looks really good to me.

That's all for my favourite things to eat this year. These were what I spent most of my money on.
I'm definitely excited to find more favourites in 2019 lmao. Hopefully I can find more bread that I love.
