Websites To Check Your Skincare's Ingredient Safety Levels
If you're new to skincare, this post is for you.
Nowadays, most of us are more concerned towards the ingredients in our skincare and cosmetic products. Of course, it's not surprising, especially when we want our skin to look as good as celebrities. I personally became a fan of K-beauty after watching so many K-dramas and I wonder to myself how did they achieve such a clear and dewy complexion.
A lot of people do check the ingredients of the products that they use and so do I. Looking at the ingredients and checking the safety levels helps different skin types prevent blemishes and also ensures the products do not harm our skin in the long run.
Anyways, let's get started with the list:
Skincarisma.com is a cosmetic and skincare ingredient analyzer tool.
Currently, you are able to search for over 18000 products and 800 brands, ranging from both asian and western brands. They have also categorized according to the different product types, so you can search for facial products as well as hair and body care products. You can also read up the reviews made by other users on a certain product.
When you are searching for one particular product, they have included price comparisons, notable ingredients and its effects, the ingredient list and the overall product overview on the same page. It works similarly like Cosdna, just that it has more features, which can definitely help you better if you're still deciding to purchase a product.
Below is just an example of how the pages look like. This is the product overview for the Cosrx Low pH Good Morning Cleanser.
The analysis of a product's ingredient list also has the EWG and CIR safety levels. The ingredient list below is just an example of what the page will show you.
Goodguide.com is another website which you can use to check the ingredients in your skincare, cosmetics and many more. They have research analysis on food and baby products as well. Personal care goes beyond just makeup and skincare. They even have the safety levels of products like deodorants, toothpaste, and shampoo.
Apart from showing the analysis of the products, they do have a section for you to find out about the brand. It does not show a background of the company, it does show the overall ratings of the brand, which can really help you if you are comparing between brands.
For the product analysis itself, it will display the overall hazard level and the safety levels of the individual ingredients used. The ingredient analysis will also show what are the concerns that arise.

Cosdna has a very simplified analysis of the product's ingredients. There aren't many reviews made by users available, so I would recommend cosdna as just a quick guide to checking your ingredient's safety levels.
The analysis of ingredients is pretty simple to understand.
Apart from showing the analysis of the products, they do have a section for you to find out about the brand. It does not show a background of the company, it does show the overall ratings of the brand, which can really help you if you are comparing between brands.
Under each category, the products are ranked according to the products safety levels. The first few pages will contain mostly products with the highest safety levels, while those in the last few pages, tend to have more hazardous levels.
For the product analysis itself, it will display the overall hazard level and the safety levels of the individual ingredients used. The ingredient analysis will also show what are the concerns that arise.
Beautypedia was created by Paula Begoun, who is actually the founder of Paula's Choice.
Beautypedia does not have korean brands so if you're looking to research on Korean products, using the other four websites would be better.
In beautypedia.com, products have ratings of one to five stars. For each product, expert reviews are given as well as the pros and cons of the product. Apart from expert reviews, consumer reviews and brand information are given.
Most of these websites are really easy to navigate. I'm recommending a few mainly because one website may not have a particular product that you are looking for, but at least you have other websites to check out. If you have other websites to recommend, do leave a comment below! :)
I hope that this post was useful for you and thank you for reading.
Till the next post.
